Polytetrahydrofuran is a white waxy solid that is readily soluble in alcohols, esters, ketones, aromatics and chlorinated hydrocarbons, and insoluble in ester fatty hydrocarbons and water. PTMEG becomes a clear liquid when the temperature exceeds room temperature.

1.4-Butanediol (chemical formula: HOCH2CH2CH2CH2OH) is one of the isomers of butanediol, a terminal dihydroxy substituent of butane, which is a colorless, viscous liquid at room temperature. Industrially, BDO is produced by allowing acetylene to react with two molecules of formaldehyde to form BDO, which is then hydrogenated. Poly butylene adipate-co-terephthalate (PBAT), also known as polybutylene terephthalate, is a semi-aromatic, biodegradable thermoplastic copolymer that can be easily molded and thermoformed. Poly butylene adipate-co-terephthalate is a random copolymer of 1,4-butanediol, adipic acid, and dimethyl terephthalate (DMT) monomers. PBAT has many attractive properties similar to polyethylene. For example, poly butylene adipate-co-terephthalate has a relatively high elongation at break (30-40%).
